Full Moon in Scorpio. Love Her or Leave Her.

Full Moon in Scorpio – May 10, 2017

Well, my loves, here is a moon to reckon with!

Scorpio leads into some dark, heady waters, where we can either drown or swim and come out reborn.

I’m not saying any of this lightly, as this powerful moon is here to teach about life, death, re-birth, magic and the synergy of our sexual natures. She is intense, the Queen of the occult – that which is hidden.

While I usually work with the moon as an equal, this month I will respectfully bow to her and offer my submission to her wisdom and strength.

Have you been feeling a strain in the back of your head, or your neck and shoulders in general, a heaviness of mood and encountering obstacles? These manifestations of the pressure preceding this moon are temporary and can be navigated by connecting to friends and loved ones who are light-bearers and optimists.

Do drink of Scorpio Moon’s sensual darkness and ponder what lessons she has under her moody cloak.

Scorpio rules the Underworld, mystery, and is ruled herself by Pluto, a very irregular and puzzling planet.

Scorpio would rather sting itself to death than yield to a predator. Hmmm, sounds oddly familiar, what with this being my sign and several planets also in Scorpio. She prefers to control her own destiny, keeping secrets and many of her vulnerabilities under wraps. She is Kali, a protective mother figure, hope, creation and destruction all wrapped up in one.

We can learn and draw from this Scorpio Moon, and make particular magic for realizing our dreams. The moon appears full when it is on the far side of the earth, and it is when we release the intentions we set under the New Moon.

Using tools that align with the full moon phase and Scorpio, such as black and white candles, perhaps a snake skin you have found, a moonstone crystal, a drum for evoking the energy of the Underworld, we can tap into why we may feel full of emotion at this time. Scorpio will highlight the unknown within us, what is hidden?

In a state of gratitude and wonder, write down a list of what you would like to discover about yourself and some things that perhaps you have kept secret, and would like to explore. Scorpio moon will challenge you to be your most authentic self! Is there something you would like do that will rock your world and you have been afraid to begin? This is the time for opening to new energy!

Pleasure, courage, vulnerability, surprise, emotions…all on the table with Scorpio Full Moon!

Kali is an exacting mistress, demanding your attention. Be kind to yourself, while you swim in the dark river of your own mystery. Shed your old skin and delight in your newness.

There is no going back with this moon, we are either stepping into the new or stagnating in the old. The choice is ours. Be brave, my loves, and with the dark goddess at your side, embark on a new adventure!

Her hips are swaying, she is dancing with all that breaks convention and she invites you to join her.

Namaste.

Spring Equinox. The Sun Enter Aries -The Astrological Year Begins.

“Mid-spring on the fourth, spring hues mark balance.
In green fields stroll moon, blue sky dotted clouds.
Swallows one by one, petals drop by drop.
At night missing wife, hear not singing voice. ” ~ Xu Xuan (916-991 CE)

Spring equinox, or Ostara as it is sometimes called in Anglo-Saxon pagan mythology, occurs in the Northern Hemisphere on Monday, March 20, 2017.

Spring equinox is the celebration of fertility, longer days, new crops, and new ideas. Winter has served her purpose, as an incubator of dreams, and now we shed her cloak and step bravely into the future.

Energetically speaking, spring equinox symbolizes new beginnings. Many cultures gather meaningful strength during the equinox, as it marks the Iranian New Year, celebrated widely in the Middle East; Vernal Equinox Day in Japan, a public holiday; Chunfen in China, a spring festival that bears great importance to farming and folk traditions; and the beginning of the Bahai’i calendar.

I like to include all these celebrations in my spring equinox blessing ritual to honor the fact that all people find joy in the promise of new life. We are all united in this powerfully simple hope.

The word “equinox” is from Latin, meaning equal-night. It occurs when the sun passes over the celestial equator, and night and day are approximately the same length. It is a virtual balance in the changing heavens.

During the equinox, the Earth’s axis is pointing neither away from nor toward the sun. This is true for both the spring and autumn equinoxes, as the Southern Hemisphere celebrates the opposite seasonal cycle of the Northern Hemisphere.

I find spring equinox extremely mystical because it shows how all things can find balance for a moment as they continue on a never-ending journey through the cosmos.

The magic of spring equinox is available to each of us, and we can harness it to ground us in love, in life’s purpose, and in our deepest spiritual longings.

Our ancestors, who lived by the movements of the planets, saw the sun as the source of all life, and it inspired great awe in them. Even as we make ourselves busy in a technological work and we find ourselves disconnected from nature’s influence and beauty, we are still sustained by that great ball of fire.

In my Wise Woman Tradition, I believe that we are made of stardust. I learn from the planets as I participate with them in a beautiful dance. I observe astrological and astronomical events with reverence. After all, who can deny being humbled by a midnight sky dotted with constellations?

This spring equinox, we can use this opportunity to lie down under the blanket of stars and contemplate our place in the universe. After we find stillness, we may discover a new awareness of the interconnection between our spirits and all that is. There is no separation, once we leave behind our thinking minds.

Spring equinox is the time for boldness and heightened emotions. We’re feeling hopeful and are perhaps falling in love with another or with ourselves. Now that we have found our balance, ideas easily pour forth. We stand surefooted and grounded, ready for the sewing of seeds.

How to Stock a Magical Cupboard for Your Witch’s Practice.

The magical cupboard, the secret garden, the private journal, the mysterious woman slipping silently through the woods—these words may waken something within you, something that stirs deep within, a knowing so ancient that you may wish to turn away, or determine to explore further.

Are we not all fascinated by what makes the colors change on the tree, or the tides turn, or the herb give up its healing strength? Did we not, as children, devour books on fairies and magic, and create potions that only our mothers would drink? Were you one of those children who just knew that everything was “real”? Do you remember how you felt when you were a child, full of wonder and hope, knowing that all of creation is magical, and that everything has consciousness?

If you have forgotten, but want to remember, against the odds, against all admonitions, that grown-ups do indeed believe in such things, then you are in the right place. I believe that magic is real and nothing is impossible!

I am often asked how one would stock a magical cupboard, and by this I mean your own collection of magical tools that would assist you in your mystics’ journey.

When I began in the Wise Woman tradition, gathering tools for my practice was part of my awakening into developing my own style of magic. I practice as a Solitary and do not belong to a coven. I had only my own intuition and some books for guidance. There wasn’t opportunity to poke around through any other mystics’ collection. If you are beginning this journey without the support of a coven, take heart, a solitary journey can be deeply meaningful.

Stocking your magical cupboard is a great adventure! To be sure, the list can get lengthy, but you can start with a few things that you consider essential, and build on that. You may already have some of these things, some items can be found at any store in town, and others will have to be bought at a magical supply store. The list below is a starting point.

Create one area where you will store your magical supplies. You may not have a whole room to use for your practice, it may truly be a cupboard, or a box, or a few shelves in a closet. All space is sacred space. Treat all items with respect and care, having consecrated them to your work, and keeping them away from the hands of others. Your tools will assume your energy, and are, in essence, an extension of you. They will, after time, store your energy, becoming more and more powerful.

As you choose your tools, try to tap into your heart center, asking your inner knowing to guide you. If something does not feel right, even if it is pretty and affordable, don’t buy it.

New Review of The Raven and The Aspen King!

My loves, here is The Raven and The Aspen King’s first review on Amazon. I couldn’t be more grateful.

monika-carless-the-raven-the-aspen-king-book-2Ms Carless wove her magic again! Just like the first book I could not put this book down. I read it into the wee morning hours. Captivated by thee erotic freedom and a web of deep love connecting all these rich and lively characters. Their stories inspire me to live more fully, to feel more deeply, to heal and forgive to be open and authentic and to bask in opportune moments of decadence. I believe this story carries with it energies that could aid us humans in breaking away from outdated, limited social norms, opening the doors to a full exploration of what love and healing truly is. Thank-you Monika for this true gift of story.
